Yes, that’s right, ICU is growing again and we’re lucky to be taking on a downtown office in March of this year, stepping into the next level of service. The lease is signed, the movers are booked and all of the thousand little details (including address updates on this website) are slowly getting done. When I look back on the clients who have trusted us to guide them in their transformational journey, I feel so honoured to have been a part of their lives. If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out the videos on our new ‘Our Clients’ page, I invite you to head over there and see how we’ve been helping women accept themselves and their bodies for the last four years. There are several new initiatives and programs that having a space of our own will help us grow. We’re entering into a closer partnership with Malene Grotrian Design through a series of philanthropic efforts for 2013, as well as building a team of associates who are as passionate about image development from the inside out as we are and cooking up some hot new workshop ideas for small groups. One of the best bits about growing is the opportunity to cultivate a community of entrepreneurs and we wouldn’t be where we are without the connections we’ve developed with other business owners; in fact, some of the best growth advice we’ve gotten was shared over a quick coffee, or at the door of a meeting just as we’re dashing off or even in a five minute phone call. Solid advice things like, “Make a 50/50 decision – 50% gut and 50% finance”, or things to help me set boundaries like, “Stop thinking and go to sleep” or supportive things like, “Sounds good, let’s do it!”  Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most; I’m not even sure if these people fully understood the impact their words would have. It reminded me to be careful of the words I choose. If anyone ever considered me a mentor or a person from whom to take good advice, or a leader, I’d want to make sure those small moments counted. It takes an enormous amount of energy to change (check out this TEDx Talk if you’d like to see more on activation energy) and requires the support of many. It might take a village to raise a child, but it takes a village to raise a dream too. If you’re considering following your heart on anything, your community is as important as your small little voice that tells you ‘grow’.  I’m so glad you’re part of ours.
