The latest sensation to hit the ‘net from the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is causing quite a stir. Gil Zamora, a forensic artist, met with women of all shapes and sizes but they never saw him and he never saw them, except through the lens of their self-description and then through the lens of someone else’s description of them. He sketched both views and then showed them the differences between the two. It was amazing to see how they described themselves and what he gleaned from their description and from the description of others. Watch the video for yourself (the link is on our Facebook page – find us under ICU Image Consulting) and please comment. There’s been much debate on whether or not this is a good move in advertising, creating positive feelings amongst women, or if it’s just another gimmick. I tend to think that anything that shines a light on the critical way women view themselves is a good thing. Anything that causes us to become aware of our own beauty is beautiful. What do you think?
