Inspired by a client who wanted to have some more colour in her life, here’s a quick set of points to remember when mixing colour. The first thing to remember is that repetition is key when you want things to ‘go together’. For the purposes of colour, this means you can repeat the undertone (cool or warm), value (light or dark) or intensity (bright or soft).

Undertone:

cool and warm

Value:

light and dark

Intensity:

Bright and soft

Mixing colours according to their dimensions creates harmony in the overall composition of the colour palette of your outfit and balance or harmony is often a good goal for good design.
